Must See Events in Teesside This Year

With the Tees Valley Airshow set to return after a 2-year absence on May 24th, 2020, that got us thinking. What other events are on in the Teesside region for the duration of 2020? In this blog we will be discussing our three recommendations for what to see this year.

Teesside Airshow

After 2 years off the eagerly anticipated Teesside Airshow is due to return this spring to Teesside International Airport, right next to Goosepool House meaning customers will have a great view of the day even if they can’t get tickets. Previous shows have attracted as many as 18,000 people in 2016 and 2017, with breathtaking aerobatic displays from the Red Arrows and other historic planes such as the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight taking to the skies. The programme will also include a classic car show, fun fairs, live music and places to get food and drinks.

Teesside Comic-Con

Launched in 2015 Teesside Comic Con will be making its 5th appearance this year and is bigger than ever. Sci-Fi fans of Teesside can meet the real life R2-D2 who will undoubtedly steal the show when the event kicks off at Middlesbrough’s Teesside University in February. Jimmy Vee, who plays R2-D2 is also known for roles in Doctor Who and The Sarah Jane Adventures, there’s no doubt that he’ll be a hit. Joining him will be Game of Thrones actor Clive Russell who played Brynden Tully also known as ‘the Blackfish’, this will be a fantastic day out for the family even if you’ve never been to comic con.

Teesside Festivals 10th Anniversary

After a years break Teesside Festival returns in 2020, marking a decade since its first show. The festival is renowned for its originality and variety, receiving best music and dance festival UK awards in 2015. It includes 3 festivals allowing audiences to be entertained thoroughly by the wide range of activities to see over a weekend this April. In 2016 festivals included the Salsa, Kizomba and Bachata dances providing a variety of cultures on show for the residents of Teesside. If you have the opportunity this is a must see during the Easter break.
